Ann Marie Allarey-Quimbo BSN RN CGRN - 2025 President
Ann Marie has been a nurse for over 35 years. She graduated from York College of Pa. with a BSN. Over the years, Ann Marie gathered experience from medical Diabetic/Dialysis floor, Surgical and Medical ICUs between St. Joseph Medical Center in Paterson and Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC). Ann Marie now is an Endoscopy Nurse for 23 years and a SGNA member for 21+ years. She has served as President-elect/President in 2014 and 2015 when the chapter joined the social media platform Facebook; as well as treasurer for two terms in 2018-2022 in which the acceptance of credit cards was initiated at the NJ SGNA Tri-Regional conferences. She has collaborated in various chapter committees: Updating Bylaws, Policy for National and local scholarships, Policy for Tri-Regional Conference, among others. She has been vital in several NJ tri-regional conference planning committees through the years. Currently, she co-chairs the 2023 NJ tri- state conference with Ivonne Carvajal BSN RN CGRN. At HUMC, her leadership roles as a Clinical Level III in the advancement program include: participation in past Unit Base Councils (as Chair, co-chair, and recorder) and Staff Advisory Council as well as, in initiating, organizing, and conducting the Night of Endoscopy/ Competency events. During the COVID pandemic, adding to the demands of the time, she engaged in research regarding scope reprocessing on endoscopes used on COVID infected patients. She takes pleasure in meeting her colleague’s in-house educational needs, so much, Ann Marie is enrolled in a master’s degree towards Nursing education. As the current president for 2025, she is looking forward to continuing serving our NNJ chapter and eager about what the future holds ahead.
Humaira Nagim BSN, RN, CMSRN - 2025 President- Elect
Humaira is excited to become an active participant in the Northern NJ SGNA chapter. Since 2022, she has consistently attended SGNA NNJ chapter meetings and conferences. By witnessing her colleges, the team inspires her to work to accomplish the chapter’s goals and is eager to participate as the 2025 President-Elect. Humaira earned her BSN from Seton Hall University in 2017 and began her nursing career in medical-surgical nursing at Overlook Medical Center, where she gained valuable experience and her Certification from American Nurses Association Medical-Surgical-BC. In 2020, she transitioned to the GI/Endoscopy unit at Morristown Medical Center, and in 2021 at the Ambulatory Surgery at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. Currently, she serves as the primary Esophageal Manometry nurse at the Outpatient Ambulatory Center at Morristown Medical Center. Humaira is pursuing her second nursing certification, this time in Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) She serves as a MAGNET Champion and represents her commitment to practice successfully accomplishing the RN Professional Advancement Clinical Track Program. Humaira serves as a preceptor to fellow nurses and technicians. She is known for her technical expertise and always helpful wiliness. Humaira excels in nursing practice teaching skills and shares her expertise regarding the BRAVO pH Recorder and more. As a nominee for president-elect, Humaira aims to enhance her leadership skills and be a catalyst for change in GI/Endoscopy nursing practice. She is enrolled in the nursing master’s program, aiming at becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner to support her GI/Endoscopy practice. Humaira is committed to contribute to this nursing specialty and support both current and future members of the NNJ SGNA chapter.
Anita Mark BSN RN 2025-2027 Secretary
Nursing is a second career path for Anita. She has a BS in Biology and attended Felician University to obtain her BSN. Anita comes with different experiences in her 9-year nursing career. She worked on Medical Surgical floors, RTU/Observation, OR, and various clinic outpatient areas in both NY and NJ. Currently devoted to working in Endoscopy at Morristown Medical Center. Anita circulates and can tech in both general and interventional cases. She thoroughly enjoys Endoscopy and believes she has finally found her calling in nursing. Anita is excited about Endoscopy, so much so, that she decided to attend this year’s SGNA national conference in Kentucky on her own volition. Getting to hear the speakers, networking, comparing notes with other endoscopy nurses from around the country, was a supported experience and she feels truly privileged to have been a part of this year’s attendees. Anita believes she would be a great candidate for secretary, as she is recognized by her peers as a competent collaborator, with effective communication skills, and diligence. She is attentive listener and would bring a wealth of fresh innovative ideas to this fine group of professionals. She likes to meet challenges head on with a healthy balance of demonstrated consistent professionalism, while maintaining a respectful demeanor. She works well with everyone no matter what level of skills they bring. She also loves to pass on knowledge and teach the new crew of Endoscopy RN’s. Anita is a preceptor to some of the new RNs to Endoscopy.
Deborah Castro BSN RN CGRN 2024-2026Treasurer
Deborah Castro is an Endoscopy nurse with a diverse background including OR, Emergency Medicine, Maternal/Child Health, Home Health, and Case Management. She obtained her BSN from the College of Mount Saint Vincent and since, she has maintained her competencies with current and ongoing educational updates. Deborah is currently at The Valley Hospital where she became part of the Endoscopy team for the past two years. To support her GI professional nursing care, she is currently preparing to obtain her Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing. Deborah keeps busy with family and teenagers, reading, traveling, and keeping up with personal and professional development. Given the opportunity, she is looking forward at working in support of this thriving nursing professional chapter.
Molly Schulenberg BSN RN CGRN- 2025 Immediate Past President
Molly has been a nurse at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. with experience in Telemetry, med-surg nursing, and as a GI nurse. With the encouragement of her GI peers, she not only joined the NNJ regional chapter, but with enthusiasm and positive energy vibes became president elect in 2024 AND president last year! Aside to inspiration, she gained chapter knowledge behind the scenes and had the opportunity to be involved in regional chapter activities such as committees in the NJ Tri-regional conference, Leadership conferences, and currently in the Bylaws and policies review committee. We thank Molly for a job well done and we hope your enthusiasm and care for our professional specialty in GI nursing continues on!
